Green Commute Initiative
As our customer you can now benefit with a new cycle to work scheme.
With no £1,000 limit, you can choose your dream bike of any value.
Green Commute Initiative is a not for profit Social Enterprise with a mission to get more commuters swap their cars into Bicycles or Blectric-Bikes.
It offers up to 42% savings on bikes for employees as part of the Government’s Green Transport plan but without a £1,000 Limit!
Electric bikes can now be affordable. You can spread the cost over 12, 18 or even 24 months and unlike the old fashioned C2W schemes there’s no £1,000 limit.
With Green Commute Initiative you do not need to pay if you want to own the bike, providing even better value than old fashioned C2W schemes.
Green Commute Initiative – For employers
The process of offering your employees a cycle to work scheme is now simpler than ever.
You buy a voucher for your employee which entitles them to hire the bike they want. They repay you the cost of the voucher by sacrificing part of their salary.
No cash required
We can normally finance the bike vouchers so there is no cash required and no impact on your cash-flow.
We manage the whole process for you. All an employer needs to do is let the employees know the GCI is available and then let payroll know about the salary reductions.
A “No cost” benefit
The salary sacrifice covers most of the costs and the difference is covered by your employer’s NI saving. Making the Green Commute Initiative a no cost benefit to offer your employees.
Green Commute Initiative – For Employees
Your employer will provide you with a voucher to hire a commuting package of your choice.
The package can contain an e-bike or an ordinary bike as well as safety equipment, clothing and accessories, tools and spares. You can see what does and doesn’t qualify here.
The cost of your voucher is repaid via salary sacrifice. Depending on your tax rate, you’ll save either 32% or 42% on the cost of the package.
Because the salary sacrifice period is independent of the hire period, depending on your employer, you can normally choose 6, 12, 18 or 24 month periods. So you can afford a really decent quality e-bike.
When the initial hire period ends, we’ll lend you the bike free so you don’t get hit with a Benefit in Kind charge.
We also appoint you as our agent to dispose of the bike to a third party of your choosing at the end of the free loan. So it doesn’t matter if you leave your employer. The cost to you for this arrangement is £1.
